Customer Service

So many times we (or me at least) will write about how poorly a company has treated us.  We will bemoan the injustice and promise to never give said company our hard earned money again.  Rarely do we take the time to write about when a company does something great for us.  This is one of those times.

A couple months ago, I was reading on the Consumerist about how Apple was recalling all the first Generation iPod nanos (see picture on the right).  Apparently there had been a couple instances where the battery had overheated and there was a risk of fire.  I was one of the early adopters of the first gens, and given the fact that I CANNOT THROW ANYTHING AWAY... EVER, I knew exactly where mine was.

Later that day when I got home, I went online to fill out my recall form.  It was easy to find, easy to understand, and in minutes it was submitted.  About a week later I got a box in the mail with instructions on how to ship (for free) my old one back to Apple.  I put it in the box (after wiping the hard drive of course), dropped it off at FedEx and forgot about it.

Last night, there was a box waiting for me in the kitchen when I got home from work.  I opened it expecting to see my replacement Nano.  Color me surprised to find one of the new Nano models (see picture right)!  Woo-Hoo!  Given the large number of Apple products we already own, I never would have spent the money on this Nano... But for free?  Heck yeah!  I haven't had much time play around with it, but so far I am very impressed. More so, I am thrilled with Apple's customer service.  The whole process was super easy to follow, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.  (Note: mine is not pink)

I love Apple products, but it is the customer service that keeps me coming back and singing their praises.

We had the same experience. I had read that Apple was doing this but didn't want to tempt fate by teling Ellen (it was her ipod) until it arrived. She was so thrilled she went out and bought a watch strap and it's now her workout companion. Apple continues to make us very happy.

I was recently filling out an Apple survey and I realized we owned one of every Apple product except for a desktop machine. Fan boy much? Guilty as charged.
