It was Sunday morning. The previous day had been spent doing manly things in the garage (read organizing and arranging all the power tools), and had ended with us sitting around a fire we had built sipping hot chocolate made by someone who cooks better than us. With heavy lifting done and Christmas (yes I said Christmas) decorations stored away, my eyes began looking towards what else needed to be done to make the house feel more like home. I wasn't thrilled with the prospect, but "shopping" was going to be involved and there was no getting around it. As I began to plan out the quickest route to take as to minimize the experience, Aaron joined the world of the living and we discussed what had to be done over a cup of coffee. Since misery loves company I invited Aaron along for the experience. I guess he couldn't find an adequate excuse quick enough (probably due to his only having had half a cup of joe thus far), and agreed to join me.
We retreated to our respective wings of the house to prepare for the day of fighting crowds and fending of sales people.
We were both ready to go and Mel (who likes shopping) was off to work. Something wasn't right here. Before we left, we decided to admire the garage again while laying out the goals. What we needed. Where we would have to go. The needs were identified as: Furniture, Decorations (art and knick knacks), maybe some hanging art, some new towels, some nice bookshelves, new pool table cover, and if time permitted we would look for some place mats for the kitchen island. With no spring in our step and with heavy hearts we got into the truck.
...(fast forward 4 hours)...
Aaron and I arrived home in a good mood having actually had a good day shopping. What we purchased: Panda Express, Wire bookshelves to display comic books as they should be, two new copies of Quake 4 (video game), a new dog dish, a Dilbert calendar, and some funky jelly beans that taste like things you would not want to taste (read vomit and ear wax here).
Overall... Good day shopping. Next time, we have been informed that we have to take a chaperon. Harrumph!
