Someone close to me uttered the phrase "The best times in life are during the in-betweens."
While the conversation moved on, a good portion of my mind was left thinking about that. We all have our routines... our jobs... school... family... but for me at least, some of my more distinct memories are from the "in-betweens". When you are transitioning jobs. Leaving school for college... Leaving college for work... Moving to a different town. It is the change that often either helps us take a look at the world around us in a different way, or forces us to grow in ways we never thought possible.
The change from one thing to the other provides new people and events that most likely weren't there for you before. Whether it be the people who live across the hall but work a different schedule... the new roommate at school... the appreciation of the ramen noodles that may be your last food for a while... Not all the changes are good, but they are different. They change you.
The next time your life is about to make a 90 degree turn to the right, make the extra effort to open your eyes a little wider and behold the fabric of the events and world around you. Once you have settled back into a routine, that time will mean just a little bit more than it did before.
